Hi
my name is Doug I'm from the south east of England,

I have just started out keeping chickens, I live on a farm and the owner has given me permission to use an area to keep my own birds,

Hi and :welcome

That's pretty cool. What sorts of chickens are you going to be getting?
I am from the England too, though I don't live there anymore.

Hi ya
I'm just keeping anything that tastes good,

I bought 12 fertilised eggs from a local breeder of quality pure bred chickens (sussex type) and popped them in the farmers incubator,
then I found another breeder selling crossbreeds from whom I purchased six two week old chicks from mixed linage, they were off heat so went straight in an old ark the farmer let me use, just some small repairs and some modifications

Of the incubated eggs 3 were unfertilised, 3 hatched and 6 although fully developed in the egg never showed any signs of life (chirping or pipping),

My plan is to build up a breeding stock and then use the offspring for eggs and meat

Doug
