I don't let the chickens roam the whole yard. I have a large fenced in run for them. If the dogs are out I will let them in when I tend to the chickens and they're fine but last summer our hound saw an escaped pullet and grabbed it. I want to integrate them more so that's why I let them in with me. Hopefully one day I'll be able to let them all just roam!

Hello! (I’m also from central WI) Just to give you some encouragement, my big dogs (lab and German Shepard) were also not good with our chickens at first, but now after a year of constant exposure, they can all roam outside together, however I still keep a close eye out. So it CAN be done, just be patient.
