Hello all!

I actually don't own chickens, but I just got 4 ducklings yesterday! I joined backyard chickens because I've googled questions and saw that there are actually several duck owners that post here. I have 2 female Cayugas and 2 female Welsh Harlequins. They are only a few days old and doing well so far.

My husband and I live in Utah. We are animals lovers and are really excited to start on this new adventure. We already have three dogs and two cats.

Thank you! Here are some pictures of my girls! (I hope I posted it properly.)

They're gorgeous! I miss when mine were teeny tiny! Did you buy sexed ducklings? Around here we can only get straight run, and I've ended up with 6 confirmed drakes and 4 (one im not positive) hens :( so far everyone is behaving but I'm sure that won't last long! :lau

Also love your dog in the picture! When I would put my ducklings out in the yard pen for outside time my pitty would climb into the pen with them and lick them when I wasn't looking :lau oddly enough, her name is Ducky.

Our pit is OBSESSED with the ducklings! We have the brooder in the spare room and she lays outside the door when it's closed and she goes in and stares at them/lays by the brooder every chance she gets! I hope that once they're bigger, they can hang out nicely. We'll wait a few weeks because our pit does tend to get overly excited and licks A LOT... :drool

We bought sexed ducklings from Metzer farms. :)

Hahaha! Must be a pitty thing!! Our girl got over her excitement with them fairly quickly once they moved outside full time. When we got her as a pup we already had a lot of chickens so she's used to poultry, and the ducks are less flighty with her than the chickens so she just ignores them now! She doesn't bother anyone- however my two tom turkeys like to give her a good chase around every once in awhile :lau

I might be placing an order with them before too long to even out my numbers :barnie

We had a good experience with Metzer. I ordered 4 and my coworker ordered 6 ducklings. One didn't make it - but the rest are all doing well. They offered a refund or to replace the duckling. The shipping was super fast - they hatched on Monday and I picked them up from the post office on Wednesday morning.

Our pit does pretty well with animals. We have 2 pugs and 2 cats and she is super good with them. So hopefully I'll be able to get cute pictures of ducklings climbing all over her someday!
