I hadn't worked with poultry for about 45 years. I am deathly allergic to poultry meat and Mild allergic to poultry feathers, but I can still eat eggs. However, during and after a local agricultural auction while trying to acquire some goats and hogs, I happened upon some deals on poultry that I couldn't pass up. Eight Rhode Island red hens, in full molten of indeterminate age at ninety cents each. When stopping by at local tractor supply store as a stop gap supply for feed I happened upon some clearance chicks. I wound up with a half-dozen is a brown and 8 Leghorn chicks for under a dollar a piece. When I hit a another tractor supply for a waterer since mine had vanished many many many years ago I was able to pick up a half dozen of the Cornish cross chicks for a quarter a piece. that'll make my relatives that can eat chicken happy. Ira figured a refresher course on poultry rearing would come in handy and the site seems to contain an Eclectic and pretty good mix of information that I was looking for it.
You never know where a good deal going to find you but one thing I did learn, never try to purchase goats around an Islamic holiday. Although pigs go at a really good price then!
