I am the proudest 'Momma" to 4 gorgeous hens. I have 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 Rhode Island Red and 1 Ameraucana. They have been laying for 2 weeks now and were raised from 10 day old chics. I have learned so much from this site and finally joined. We live in Nor-Cal and our chickens are organically fed with the freedom to roam our entire backyard. We did have to invest in a pressure washer for the patio and looking for a garden solution so they don't eat the whole garden...again!
Thank you so much for all the information you provide. Thanks to you, I clean and give them back their shells as a natural calcium supplement. We never thought we would get so much joy from these birds. My husband and I love them. One of our Yorkie's joined the flock and began sitting in the dirt with hens while dusting. We refer to sunflower seeds as chicken crack and my neighbors think its hilarious that I can call my chickens with these seeds- and they COME. Thanks again for all the valuable information and insight you give. I hope to be able to give back now too!

Great to have you aboard and enjoy your wonderful flock!!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I read the link..We certainly did not get our chicks as a cost savings initiative. With that said, how great is this information for "New Bee's" looking to get chickens. Some may think there is very little to no costs associated with babies, but there is a substantial cost associated in raising healthy chickens! I appreciate your warm welcome
