Greetings to everyone. I've been reading this site for a very long time and have been breeding chickens off and on for 30 years. I'm interested in heirloom breeds and their preservation, I'm most drawn to breeds from Indonesia, Oceania and South America.

I'm particularly impressed by the work of Resolution and Yashar on this site. The concept of ornithological and anthropological history walking, or should I say boating, in tandem is fascinating. I'm hooked. I want to learn more.

How many birds do you currently have and what breeds?

I have some mixed hens, mostly leghorn mixes, but I'm also working with a pair of Ayam Cemanis , a pair of Tomaru Longcrowers , Five nice Aracaunas, four Black Sumatras , a few Silkies, Some Americaunas , and a pair of nice Red Jungle Fowl that seem relatively pure.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm just getting started. I'd like to get myself involved in some of the more exotic breeds from Oceania, Indonesia and South America.

wow quite the assortment and they sound wonderful! I'm sure we would all love to see some pictures of your flock and your setup. I know I would. Especially the aruacanas and the ayam cemanis.

Well, perhaps that day will come. I'm not a computer guy at all. It's important that I take baby steps in the blog world. I, like everyone else I guess, have a whole lot going on in my life. I'll learn to post pictures and do the other stuff gradually. To give you an Idea of how primitive I am, I don't even have a camera, and apparently, I'm the last human on the planet without a cell phone. I'm appreciative of your interest, but be patient with me. I'm working on it. Thanks.
