(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not exactly new to getting chickens, though I wouldn't say I'm terribly experienced either. I've had a move in between but I started my first flock about four years ago. Now I'm in a different state and I've had these girls about 6 months now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 11 girls. Sadly a neighbourhood dog broke through the fence and got three of my girls and my roo the other day. I do have new babies coming soon though so numbers will change shortly.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Salmon Favorolles, Australorps, and an order of a few others on the way.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
My old room mate actually. XD I fondly blame her for my city life turned farmboy.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Well... I'm a college student so my hobies kind of consist of studying, staying up late, drinking overpriced coffee and watching a tad too much Netflix.
I joke. A little. XD
Though those are defintely on the list, I do have a few other hobbies. Um... I'm a pianist and I draw, though neither of those are fantastic. I have a small hobby farm consisting of a few goats, a milk cow, ducks, my chickens and a donkey named Puck. I write on occasion but nothing fancy and I am a full time creator of awkward social situations. Yay!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Let's see... I have a few dogs. Three to be exact. A few farm cats and two indoor cats, some bunnies and an amazing room mate who helps with all the "farm stuff" while I'm at school. I work in our campus coffee shop and am a photographer of sorts on the side. I am studying counselling psychology and I'm sorry for rambling.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've known about BYC for four years now. I've always loved it and intended on joining but just recently figured it was finally time.
