Greetings

Have you considered penning any of them together? Like I'm doing silky color genetics so putting 1 roo with 3 particular hens in one pen, then 1 roo with particular hens in another. Not in cages, but rather 8' x 8' or so pens with a hutch in each for sleeping. Just tossing that in for an idea to pinpoint what you'll be hatching. ☺️
Ultimately, that's the plan, however at the moment it's just too cost prohibitive. We own our own business (events production ie. weddings, celebrations, etc.) and due to the economy we have been hit really hard. I really want to be able to separate them all sorts of ways in order to experiment with breeding etc. We would also like to house excess roosters in a bachelor pad. However, with the lumber prices in our area, that's going to take a while. We can get large oversized pallets from our local ATV store, but they won't be getting anymore until the spring.

Well, tbh I really don't want to get rid of any of the first 23 chickens. I am hoping to hatch enough hens to make the correct ratio. I really need to get a few bantam hens for our Seabright. I'm not sure he's going to be able to mate with the regular size hens as they are enormous and he is tiny! So maybe he shouldn't even count against my ratio.

Anyway, the ultimate plan is to create a separate coop and run this spring where we can have a "bachelor pad" for excess roosters. According to a lot of information I have seen, you can house a bunch of roo's together as long as there is no hen with them. So that's my ideas.
I have a bachelor pad and while some may say it is not natural, I know my roosters are very happy. All day, they are in the middle of the hen yard, separated by a fence, When the hens go in, I spend an hour a day spending time with only them and they get to roam all of the space. I just love my roo's and I know they are happy. PM me if you want more info.
