Hi everyone ! I'm new to the whole chicken raising thing so I figured this would be a great place to start. I'm in the process of getting my first batch of chicks and am about to start working on a nice place to start raising them. I was thinking about staring out using an old 90 gallon aquarium with a mesh top, will that work ?

That's a great idea for a brooder. (Especially if you already have the aquarium and top on hand.)

What kind of chicks are you getting?

Apparently I'm getting 5 red and 5 black sex-links. Ive looked them up and they look like beautiful birds, can't wait to get them! Seems like such a fun and rewarding hobby.
 
Those breeds are great egg layers. Excellent choice! If you can, spend alot of time socializing the chicks. They'll be so tame, you'll love it! And they do have such interesting personalities.....

I bet you're really going to love them.
