My Coop
My Coop
Hello BYC peeps,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Been scouring BYC for coop ideas and am finally biting the bullet and going to start building. I was all ready to go to the hardware store to purchase hardware and lumber this weekend when the offer of a free coop fell into my lap today. It's not exactly what I want but I could use the materials (hardware cloth, clear plastic roofing, cedar siding etc). Just need to decide if it's worth the time and effort to go get that other coop or stay with the plan in my head. Hope to post pics of the coop to BYC once I'm done.

Thanks to all the posters for all the helpful information. I've already learned a lot and know I'll have lots of questions.

You will fit right in here with the rest of us!

Congrats on the first step! A COOP! Make it a big one!!!

You could always do both- make a coop and have the free one as a quarantine area for new or sick birds, or for broody quarters, grow out pen etc.

! Great to have you aboard! Personally, I'd always take the free one - even if it wasn't good, you could salvage some stuff off it it to save $$ on your build. Or if it's good - you are ready to go!!!! Best of luck!!
