grit for ducks?

do ducks need grit and if so what kind. I have granite for my chicks is that ok?

If ducks are allowed out and have access to dirt they will pick up small stones themselves.
If kept in enclosures they need to be given grit

they are just 2 weeks and I have been giving leaf spinach and today they played in the pond and ate algae and dandelion leaves but didn't see them eat any dirt. So is the granite grit ok then??
