When do you start feeding grit to your chicks?

It is best to offer grit free choice right from the start. Finding chick sized grit is the hard part; because most people don't think to offer grit until the chicks are eating foods other than chick starter. Many pet stores carry parakeet grit. Try and find the kind without added calcium.

I think sand is fine as long as it is small enough and clean like sandbox sand.
