Grit

What is a good source of Grit, and what brands of grit are best if I do need to buy some? Also I feed my chickens layena crumbles,chopped dried corn from tsc, and purina scratch grains, they are 8-9 weeks old now and im moving them outside this weekend so just what do I need to do?

Grit is just rocks pretty much. Some tractor supply stores sell it in bags...chick grit is rock crushed down really small but bigger than sand, hen grit is bigger about the size of a feed pellet.

If they have access to an outside run they'll find their own grit.

Every feed store should carry grit, it comes in different sizes for different sized birds...

You want an insoluble grit, granite or quartz are what you will generally find in feed stores...

That depends on the soil in the area, as well as run size, in most cases they will deplete a static run area of suitable sized grit quite fast...
