Grit

My hens are now 3 months old & I found out my husband is giving grit in their food every day for 1 month now. I thought free choice is better. Is this true. Thank you in advance for replying to me

Honestly I don't think it makes a huge difference. If they don't want the grit they'll probably just eat around it. They don't need it daily though. I give mine on the side now that they're adults, but when they were chicks I sprinkled it on the feed every few days since I didn't really have room in the brooder for a separate container.

Just spread some on the side, either in the coop, or the edge of the run, or in a dish somewhere. Mary

Grit is good it allows them to break up food better.
