How much grit should I put in the feed for chicks?

They only need grit if they are getting anything other than starter feed. When I give mine treats, I sprinkle the treat with grit or put it in their feed.

I'm new to chickens also. When I give them anything other than their chick feed (worms, raisins so far) I just put a small dish of chick grit out next to their food and sprinkle some in their feed too. I only have 6 chicks so the little dish seems to be enough and they all stop and peck at it.

the guy at tractor supply said to keep them on grower/starter crumbles until 15 weeks old, then switch to layer crumbles.

Belinda, keep them on starter until you get an egg. Some pullets may not start laying until they are 24 weeks, you just never know.
