Grocery Store Chicken

I think it matters a little whether it happened while raising them, at the processor, or in transit.

But very little. It is all part of one big, inhumane system and largely the reason I raise my own.

Getting back to the broken legs it's a processing error. That sort of thing is supposed to be caught and removed on the line, but sometimes it slips through. In my experience of buying whole chickens it's not uncommon for stuff like skin tears, blemishes, and the occasional broken bone to slip through that should not have.

I have read many a post here where someone complains of very similar inhumane things hapening . It is NOT an exclusively industrial only thing.

Just find a local farmer you trust. We buy our pork and beef from local farmers and I know they are treated well and organically raised. Same with my milk, I have met the cow, she's not a close personal friend or anything, but I've met her

The only reason we raised our own chickens is because we could not find a local organic supplier.

Exclusively, no.

But most definitely predominantly.
