Grocery store fertile eggs now under my hen!

What dancingbear says is about what I know. These are eggs labeled as free range and fertile and when I went the website of the egg producer, it says there isn't a 100% guarantee that each egg is fertile. For ten hens, there is one rooster, so the odds seem pretty good to me. As for the effect of the cold on the eggs, I don't know. Seems to me I've read that it won't kill of your chances, although I'm sure it doesn't up your odds either.

Good idea to slip a couple other eggs under her in case these don't hatch out. I can check with neighbors to see if they have any fertile eggs.

I put two free range grocery store eggs in my chicken's nest and yesterday I found the cutest yellow baby chick in the pen. What a blessing and sooooo adorable.

Blessings,

I would let the eggs slowly warm to room temp before putting them under the hen, that way, you don't freak her out. I would move her off the nest, take the eggs she is sitting on, and replace them with the other eggs.
