gross solid egg looked like a corn dog with cheese in it

just gathered eggs and there was a disgusting soft shelled solid egg that looked like layers of hard boiled material. This thing was gross. What happened? It smells like a hard boiled egg, and it was just laid today. Nasty.
No roosters, and this was in the nest box, fresh from this morning.
It was hard and solid to cut through, shaped like an egg. Ive had chickens for three years and never seen anything like this before.
Any ideas?

has she been laying regularly? I know impacted eggs can end up solid as the body absorbs the liquid. Maybe it's been in there for a while and was just able to pass it.
