Ground in chicken run

What is the best way to make cement ground into a fun place that is easy to clean for my four hens? I already have a run built.

Put about 6 inches of sand on the cement

What kind of sand is the best for them??

Any sand will work. If it is a covered run, I would overlay the sand with pine shavings to help wick off the moisture.

I have coarse construction sand in my coop and run - it's great - I just periodically shift he sand to remove the poop - you can't beat it -
