Ground raised quail

Hi everyone, I was going to attempt to ground raise about 30-40 quail. Basically my idea was to build a large area on top of some mostly flat ground covered in grass. I was wondering how large of an area I would need for these birds as to prevent it from becoming dirty and potentially unhealthy for the birds. I’d like to keep my birds in a semi natural environment and not raise them on wire. However i am still open to raising them on wire of my idea is not feasible. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I raise all my quail and pheasants on the ground. No problem.
