Oh I love that Quail cage!

I've been looking for small dog houses to cheat and make a simpler version of your cage. But I like yours so much better! lol...

How do you collect the eggs if left in the center? do the tops open in the center where it's wire?
I looked through your page, all your work is fantastic!

Thank you for the picture! It' makes sense now.

You had worded it as "clothes pin" in the last post, that's why it didn't make sense to me.

That would work well in a few areas.

The cage is 3' deep, 8' wide and 1'tall except under the roofs at each end. There are 6 doors total. Two doors 2' X 3' on the top that open upwards. Two doors (not pictured) that open at both ends 1' X 3". and the two in the front that are 1' X 2' with shutters added so you can close it up if it gets too windy. Pretty simple construction with mostly 2X2's and hardware 3' wide hardware cloth. The nest box does work. I made the nest box 8'' X 8'' outside dimensions and they always lay in the nest box.

I finally got quail moved out to the aviary! lol...

They had a blast! Rolling in the dirt and checking out all the plants.

For now I moved 19 out I think. lol... Kept 1 pair of breeders in the house I want to cross out of curiosity. A Rosetta and Roux Dilute. About 10 of what went out are destined for freezer camp in the next week or so. ;-)

I put green Christmas lights all around the the bottom about 10" up to give them a little warmth and light until they get used to things, and the whole aviary is wrapped in plastic, of which the front can be opened on nice days.

We dont get snow and are very mild compared to the rest of the country, but I spoiled them and want them warm.. lol...
(Don't laugh Leyla! ;-) )

I will try and get some pics tomorrow. All the plants I put in are doing well too and the mint is growing like crazy! I hope they don't eat it.

Well, I've only fed sprouts, so I'm hoping the Coturnix aren't smart enough to figure out the plants are edible.
