I found someone to build me bantam coops--FINALLY (I hope!) And while he's at it--I have asked for a grow-out pen/coop.

I would like something divided down the middle--so I can brood chicks on one side and then when they get big enough, put them on the other side with no heat so they can grow up and I can decided who I'm keeping....both sides will have runs....

Anyone have anything like this?

I think it will need to be at least 6 x 6 but more like 8 x 8, probably....

Similar. My barn is half chicken coop, half barn. The chicken coop side has two dividers I can put up, simple deer netting, which allows for 3 compartments of 10x10 approximately. I can configure it according to my needs and those of the flock at any point of the year. I couldn't function any other way.

Do you have any pics?

I currently have an 8'x16' coop which houses all of my chickens (some are in bantam bins for now) and we're in the process of making another 6 x 6 coop which I'll be moving my Orloffs and RIR RCs to once it's done (it will be uninsulated and unheated so I'm hoping for the best here!)

My main coop has a large walk-in area that currently has a brooder box which is about 2' x 3' but it's kind of hard to clean. If I wanted to, I could actually use that entire walk-in area as a brooding area--but since my DH has been doing chores for me lately I'm scared he'll step on the chicks.

I am hoping to get him to build me some broody pens that will hang on the wall and could also accommodate pairs of bantams in the winter months in case they don't do well in the other coops....

This divider is rather permanent. Although, I could/can leave the door open making the pen I am standing in taking this photo adjoin the next pen(s). This big pen is presently divided with simple deer netting and a few furring strips. Quick work with a staple gun.

Below, you see I can also use deer netting to make temporary runs and outside pens.

I have found some other pics of raised, brooders with wire floors...it's way too cold here still for that...I prefer pine shavings and an enclosed space for my chicks....our local lumber yard has a bunch of those ZIGGY sheds...so I called...can you believe they are over $2,000 each?

That's about what my 8'x16' cost me--including all of the wire, posts and sand for runs--and all of the beer for DH to keep him motivated!

Wow that top one sure is HUGE...I wish I had a place to do something like that....my in-law's do--they have a huge hay barn but it's full of goats now.

Thank you for the pics....

I may keep scouring the paper and CL for a shed I can convert....

I use a 6ft x 2 1/2 ft homemade rabbit hutch for my 5 week old birds it has an enclosed box with heat lamp that I have wired to a dimmer switch so I can control temp ,it has 3 doors two on the front and one on the open end that I use for access to the run during warm days ,I use a portable run ,kinda like a chicken tractor , this setup makes a great place for a brooder hen to raise some chicks , I have 3 of these setups and they work perfect for me
