Grow Your Own Fresh Greens All Year.

Mike you soak the seeds you want to sprout for a few hours. Drain and then rinse. Do this once in the morning and once at night. I a few days they will break the hull and your start to see green shoot right away. Let them grow a few more days and you'll get. Awhile mess of seedlings!

I'm assuming the OP then puts it in her suet cage and gives it to the peeps.

Also, my wife has sprouted flax seed before. Remember, sprouts are a great idea because though the seeds are really healthy, the nutrition in them is mobilized when sprouted and it is thought it makes the nutrition readily available and easier to take up in the body.

That's an excellent idea.
I can't help but think the bird seed stuff might also work (some of it sprouts on the ground after a bit of rain, so why not?)

Sorry, Mike, I wasn't clear. Soak initially, and then simply fill your container and dump it back out twice a day....essentially your rinsing/wetting the seeds. The initial soak is just to jump start them. No need to keep soaking, simply wet twice a day. In fact, you don't want them soaking any re as it could introduce spoilage and mold.

No I know what I did wrong. I left them soaking. Thanks for the info, I love this forum. Always learning something new.

Thanks for the info. I "sprouted" years ago. Now it's time to start again. Thanks again for the reminder. Regards, Aria

GROW GRASS in a 12" X 8" high X 4' long window flower box. Fill with dirt and put grass seed in it. Cover like a tube with a hardware cloth and seal good over the entire unit and when the grass will grow through the wire and the birds keep it cut as it grows out the wire. All you do is keep it watered. I am positive you could do this with your fresh sprouts too
