* Is there corn in your organic feed? The Fed made all the pet foods that had corn had to stop using the term organic because of the FrankenCorn mess. Even Solid Gold that doesn't even use corn wasn't allowed to carry the term. I heard about from them b/c I am on their mailing list. Don't know how the farm feed producers got around it.

It's frustrating!!! I found a local organic mill that's actually affordable but I can't bring it home in quantities large enough to justify the gas in my van. I just keep telling myself in the spring...

Thanks for the help guys with this....i have always known that the organic (i mean natural, in means of being completely natural as God has made it and with us not putting soo much things that can affect nature as in pesticides, chemicals etc, etc, etc) has very good benefits, and positive effects that in other types of feed, or products even in caring for a garden might have.

I do understand that sometimes we might need medicated stuff, but i am confused about some things...i need to read some more....

But what is medicated food? and why is it added? is there a way to raise chickens without that and still have great chickens and without having them die? how can it be possible?

Please do tell me if i should give my chicks that vaccinatioin for marricks? Is that vaccination organic as in will they grow organically??

Also i would like some names/brands of the feed that is possible to use for organic growing for chicks as starters...for future layer chickens, and future broiler chickens....Would like to know this for future refference...

Does anyone make their own feed? The pioneers obviously did it somehow. I'd like to find a recipe.

I found this description from a guy who grew up on a farm during the great depression:

We made our own chicken mash from the grain we raised on our farm and mixed in supplements, like tankage (ground bone meal) bran, and middlin (an extra wheat ingredient).

But I think if you search here, there are some more exact recipes.​
