My wife are I are new backyard chicken keepers, coming up on the first successful week of chicks.
We live in a small town in NH. After enjoying beekeeping, we decided to start the next adventure. I checked town zoning laws and after finding out We can have 12 hens (no roosters) we thought 4 was a good start. We ordered 2 buff orpingtons and 2 cuckoo marans from the local Agway. While we waited for the chicks to hatch I build a coop for the girls.
I can't wait for the snow to melt so I can build a run and place the coop in the backyard. We are looking forward to having the resources this community provides.

What an adorable little coop!

Great to have you aboard and I hope spring time comes to your territory soon!

You'll have to add additions to your coop, you WILL become addicted and want more and more.

Chickens need 4 square feet per bird inside and coop, and 10 sq.feet per bird in an outside run.
