Growing out males

Now at 6 weeks, 2 days. The count ended up being 13 males, 9 females. We sorted out the 2 largest roos for breeders and have the other 11 in 2 growout pens.

I'm thinking they need at least another week to finish growout? What is everyone's preferred age for processing?

I keep reading 8-10 weeks for processing size I was going to weigh mine at 8,9 and 10 weeks to see how much more they weigh at 10 then at 8 I hav,nt gotten that far along in the process yet

I will be doing mine at 10 weeks unless they start fighting .. Mine are 6 weeks old now and they are all together , i havent had any fighting at all a lil feather picking on one before I put in a dust bath but thats it...

OK...we'll grow out a bit longer then. I like the idea of weighing them at weekly intervals. I'll start next week when ours reach 7weeks.

I always go more by feel than time with them. We are getting ready to put some eggs in the incubator in the next few weeks. We grew out close to 300 last year and there isn't to many left in the freezer, you just wait they are sooooooooooo good.

Since the weather is getting so nice here one of my fav ways to cook them is to fillet the breast off and marinade in Italian salad dressing, put them on skewers and cook them on the grill with shrimp. Serve with fresh spinach from the garden.
