Growing up on a farm

Barb my best friend owns a diary
milks 125 head each day
like 300 total on the farm

yes it is a tough life! 24/7 365 per year!
one business I wouldn't truly want to handle.

the limited family freedom of time is lost on a dairy. but of course you work around it best one can..lol

I was raised on a 120 acre farm that has been in the family since the 1860s. We had horses and beef cattle. In the 1950s, my grandpa had a big egg laying business, but that was before me. The farm has had most all kinds of livestock, even dairy and pigs. I still live on a portion of that farm, but my poultry are the only livestock now. Most of the land is dormant.

I've only lived a short time in town. I don't like feeling fenced in and watched.

Raised in small town Oklahoma now I live on 43 acres and have 7 hens! Next year I am expanding! I will raise ducks, two Turkeys, and am going to try to profit off chickens! I cant currently keep up with the demand for eggs and my friend has an excess so I will buy his eggs $1 per dozen and sell for $2! I am also getting fertile eggs for my broodies and will have hens ready for laying in early Spring as well as meaties growing next year! I Love this Country Life!
