It is looking like both my ducks might be female, but I’m still at question as to what type of duck they might be. At first we were thinking Cayuga, Cayuga mix. Yet as they grow more and more white feathers are coming in and they still have a green shade on the darker feathers that are growing in.
-The tub was a little swim and bathing time for them.-
They do dabble down and when I put them in a bigger swimming hole(which had to be cleaned, hence the tub for their little swim time) they do dive down and swim a good distance before popping back up. They are okay with people but definitely don’t like to be touch or picked up, though my duck Daisy (the one with a more solid darker color) is more people friendly and will let you pet her, as to Donald (the one with white, I feel bad cause I think it’s a female and she responds to Donald very well ) doesn’t like to be bothered with at all. Donald is definitely more timid. I use Daisy to coax Donald out of their little housing and out into the yard (all fenced off) where they have a big garden to explore and a man made swimming hole for them to swim in (that we can rinse and clean out) do you think over time she, Donald, may grow out of having to be coaxed out or maybe she might be a certain breed of duck that has to always be in a flock or with another duck cause she gets loud and starts to panic if Daisy wanders off to far and doesn’t respond to her. Daisy on the other hand makes some noise but doesn’t panic the way Donald does. Please let me know any of your thoughts cause I’m just trying to create the best environment for my ducks.
