growling pullets

Was wondering, my 4 1/2 month old pullets growl, i don't see any danger, but they will be standing there and then this long drawn of growl- like commenting on something..?

I really don't know why they growl, but mine do it too. I kind of think its cute. I don't think its because of aggression though, if thats what you were thinking. They also make a sound kind of like a purrrrr too!

My whole flock, roo and hens, will growl if they sense danger. Sometimes I don't see the danger at first, a hawk flying overhead for example, but they see it.
