Growling Rooster

My rooster has been making some strange growling sounds lately. He does this at any time, no matter what he's doing. Sometime he seems to do it if something upsets him . It almost sounds like a loud burb. Is this normal? What does it mean when he does this?

My roos growl all the time. Esp. my silkie roos.

I read where roosters have different noises based on the type of predator. Sometimes mine do the quick BAWK! at the sign of a predator (usually the aerial kind), other times it's the BAWK followed by the growl. Maybe the growl is just a reminder to the hens to be very careful.

My Phoenix talks like that all the time.

i have about 10 roos,,,, sounds like a dog pound,, hehe,, my gaint red growls constantly

So this is normal behavior then. It sounds so funny. Sometime it does sound like someone talking.

yup, if i understanding right,, its normal, their way of talking, letting all know where he is, warnings,,,,,,least i hope its normal lol.
now it would be different if it was a gargling, or raspy every time he breathed.
