Yes, as others have said, get the hardware cloth. Even though coons shouldn't be able to reach through it I would take the extra precaution of putting tin or something in the corners. My dad always did this because chickens seems to head for corners when threatened. Coons know this and use that tactic. Good luck with the future of your coop.

Wow thanks everyone! Being new to chickens and the country i feel like an idiot sometimes but this site is an excellent help. Thats great about the tin, we have an old mobile home we are cutting in half for a shed and we plan on making a bigger and better coop utilizing some of the tin from the scrap half...im so excited!!! I know we are going through a learning curve here but we are loving every minute of the country lifestyle just wish we would have done it years ago!!! Again, thanks for all the help and advice.
