I was a long haul truck driver for several years and have seen the good, bad and ugly from coast to coast. I have also been in a hurricane on 3 occasions.

Not fun!
I was just commenting that this season has been really strange and I fear we are all in for a VERY BAD winter!
Edited to add: you have not been in a real wind until you have been in a road tractor with the wind picking your trailer up and setting it back down inthe next lane of traffic. That one was a real hoot!

Sacrey stuff!

I've been in the desert on I-10 when they shut the whole thing down for 2 days because of wind and sand storms. That's not worth a darn either! I agree, the desert is mean at times.

Hey Deb... Know what ya mean... I lived in Fontana for 17 years then moved to Oklahoma.... These folks don't even know what a wind is.... Yeah, ya have a tornado once ever decade or so... but nothing like a Santa Ana, day in and day, out at 70 mph +. I used to hate October... I knew it was coming and would bethere till May!!!

Got a call from our neighbor earlier and she told us that our 300 gallon stock tank went flying across her pasture.

This thing weighs a lot. It usually take me, my hubby and one kid to move it around the yard and the wind picks it up and blows it over 100 feet away. Don't tell me the wind ain't blowing. She raises Alpacas and I am very thankful none of them were in the path of this thing.

Daughter and I and her and her daughter came to help us get it back to our pasture and it took all four of us to lift this heavy thing. Then come to notice that our goats were out due to the stock tank hitting the cattle gate.

Finally got it in our pasture area and before I went in I had to put a brace behind the entry door to the chicken run cause the wind was blowing it inward and I then put all the chickens and other winged critters in the run and locked them up so they wouldn't blow away.

We live up on a hill in the open so we get the blunt force of it all. There is debree flying around from down the road and if you go out you have to keep a watch out. I think the highest wind was in the mid 50 mph range.

I can't wait until it's gone

Well we have constant sub zero weather and last week it blew up to 65 mph followed by an ice storm. We northerners have you all beat. Zero and wind = Many degrees minus zero.

Lightweights.

I would LOVE to have some 60 to 70 degree days interspersed with the zero and minus zero ones.

Now you have every right to grumble, but just giving you some perspective that it could be worse.

Yep, that's me--why do you think I live in NC instead of Maine

You can have your sub-zero days and killer long nights and constant howling wind. It was 60 here yesterday and I dumped all the groceries on the counter and headed out to work in the yard!

I'd love to go visit up there sometime in the summer though. I hear it is really beautiful.

I don't want it, but we are stuck here........

Yes, the summers are stunning, truly, as is the fall. Spring is not so great. There are SOME winter days that are the most gorgeous in the world, just not many.
