Guard Donkey?

We had a donkey when we had guineas. They were friends, the guineas ate bugs off the donkey. But the guineas roosted in trees, and even tho the tree was in the donkey's pasture, nighttime predators sometimes killed a guinea anyway.
I saw our donkey chase off stray dogs that wandered into the pasture. But once a coyote was in there and the donkey got behind me. My opinion is that they protect themselves or that this one did.
A lady raising mini donkeys told us they are vulnerable to coyotes. They say don't get a mini for a guard animal.

a donkey won't likely protect your chickens and ducks as part of their herb but it will definitely keep larger predators away from the area but won't directly protect your poultry from predators if they straggle I don't suggest keeping the donkey with just poultry alone
