First, just for a little bit of info, most (or all) are Easter Eggers, and only 1 (hopefully) is a roo. Meyer Hatchery had thrown in a free "Meal Maker" pullet with my order (egg layer), and I'm not sure what breed that one would be (if not the same), and I'm not sure which one it is lol. I lost one chick the night they were delivered, so in theory I should have 6 pullets and 1 cockriel (hopefully) pictured, so long as the sexing was right and I didn't loose my roo.

I plan on updating this kinda weekly until it's more obvious which is which. They are at least unique enough that I can tell them apart, so I will keep their #s the same as they grow.

Currently they are 5 days old.

CHICK 1 (Guess: Pullet)

This is not a great picture of the wings (because this one is very fluffy), but it does have the double wing feathers, and they are long towards the butt. This one is already starting to get a little butt feather. Personality wise, this one seems the most "roo" (it will run at my hand to peck my ring as soon as I put my hand in the brooder).

CHICK 2 (Guess: Pullet)
20250607_072514.jpg
This one does have the double feathers (better shown than the first), and also getting a little tiny butt feather. This one personality wise seems like a pullet as well, it's very shy and sweet. It's generally one of the middle ones to come out and eat and drink when I start tapping food bowls. Though this one is also very interested in my diamond ring and likes to peck at it lol.

This one may be a different breed if I had to guess, it's 1 of 2 that I consider. The reason I guess that is because it's just got a different head shape than the others.

CHICK 3 (Guess: Cockriel)

20250607_072446.jpg
This little guy is the only one in the group that has an obviou single row of feathers, and they are shorter than the others. Pesronality wise this one is very very shy for a "rooster" but that could just be because they are so young. This little guy is very sweet though once he's caught.

CHICK 4 (Guess: Pullet)
20250607_072423.jpg
This little one has a very clear double feather on the wing, and is very sweet. So both personality and body so far, I'm assuming this one is a pullet. This is the 2nd one that I consider could be the Meal Maker and might be a different breed, but it's only because it's the only fully yellow chick.

CHICK 5 (Guess: Pullet)
20250607_072339.jpg
Again this one has a pretty clear 2nd set of wing feathers, and is also getting a small little tail feather. This one is also very sweet, and kinda shy.

Chick 6 (Guess: Pullet)
20250607_072324.jpg
This one is hard to say, because this one really only has 1 set of feathers on the wings OTHER THAN just 1 long feather than stretchs out at the bottom. So I'm not sure, but I am guessing Pullet just because I already guessed one to be the roo. LOL.

CHICK 7 (Guess: Pullet)
20250607_072247.jpg
This little baby has the 2 sets of wings, and a tiny little tail feather starting to come out, so again, i'm pretty sure this is a pullet. Though, similar to the other one above with 1 really big feather at the edge, the tiny tail feather makes me think pullet.

It's too early to tell gender as none of those things indicate gender, just personality
IDK my grandpa always said he had good luck with wing sexing as he called it (single or double row of feathers meaing male/female) within 3-7 days. I also found it interesting that for the most part they match the #s Meyer Hatery got with their sexing. I know it's def not full proof, but that is why it's supposed to be for fun.

The personality bits were just added for fun, because I kept teasing from the beginning that one of them was "probably the roo" just because of the behavior. With the wings, it would be a pullet though.

They’re way too young to sex and you can’t feather sex most every bird. It takes an extremely specific cross. Take more pictures of 2. I think that’s your meal maker and possibly a different breed. Comb picture as well
Fair! I'm not sure what kinda breeds my grandpa buys specifically, but he said he found it to be about 75% accurate, though agian, might just be the breed... or luck lol. So I was just kinda curious to see how it pans out with this set of easter eggers just for fun, and figured recording it would help me kinda remember better (since they are so easy for me to tell apart).

Though which was the meal maker, and possibly another breed was my other curiousity. Like what breed. I know it might still be too early to know exactly, but that is where I plan on updating this weekly.

Here is the extra pictures of #2 (we named her Veronica) hopefully those crop pictures are clear enough.

We (my niece, nephews, and I) have started to come up with some names.

[Excuse the messy. I took these while I was getting them out of their dog crate/brooder to clean it, and they are in a storage area in our basement that is warm. Also excuse the terrible photos, my mom is not the best chick photographer. LOL]

Age: 13 days

[TLDR - Same guesses as last time for gender and breeds. I think #2 Veronica is the "meal maker chick" because of peaks on her comb, and #3 George is the cockriel because has the shortest wings and no tail feathers]

Chick 1 - Genevieve Hennetta (guess: pullet)

Breed wise, this one I'm also pretty sure is an easter egger. It has a similar comb/beak shape to the others (only 1 has a different comb).

Chick 2 - Veronica Glass (guess: pullet)
image0000006.jpg image00000112.jpg
Breed wise, I believe this one is different, only beucase the head shape is still smaller and more oval than the others, and it's comb has these little ridges on it. She's also just... smaller and thinner then the rest. Though, she's definietely not "ill", as she's quite spirited and active. Usually the first at the crate door when I show up to climb on my lap. (She's even learned "step up" on my finger and tends to perch on my arm or knee watching over everything while I tend to things in the brooder).

Chick 3 - George Roogan (guess: cockriel)
image0000024.jpg image0000018.jpg
This one is still the only one that doesn't have tail feathers, so still just going to assume this one is a roo.

Breed wise, I'm almost certain this is an easter egger, just cause it's got the comb/beak just like the others, and the coloring.

Chick 4 - Rose Everwing (guess: pullet)
image0000029.jpg image0000028.jpg
Breed wise I think easer egger, only because it has the same comb/beak as the others (plus there is one other all yellow one). Curious how they will turn in the end! they are both seeming to go lighter as they get this first set of feathers in.

Chick 5 - Iva Jean (guess: pullet)
image0000015.jpg image000002.jpg
TBH this one just has to be an easter egger. From the coloring, to the comb/beak, lol. This one is the biggest of them all (almost twice the size of veronica). She's also the funniest personality of them all. She's def learning to fly, and spends most of her time with me running/flying from the brooder heater to my lap and back again.

Chick 6 - Maud Mabell (guess: pullet)
image0000022.jpg image0000016.jpg
Again this one I'm almost certain has to be an easter egger. It's the smallest of the ones I know for certain, but a tad bit bigger than Veronica. Though the colors, and the comb/beak just tell mei t has to be. LOL.

Chick 7 - Beatrice Buttermilk (guess: pullet)
image0000025.jpg
Sadly this one I didn't get any pictures of it's wings that were still enough to really see anything. Though, this one I still think is an easter egger/pullet just because the nose. This one is a little smaller/yellower than Rose, but otherwise they look the same. Their wings are coming in the same pale yellow, so IDK if I'll be able to tell them apart once they loose their fluff and grow.

I think Veronica may be an Opal Legbar. I can’t say for certain because some Eggers can look similar as well but she looks more similar than I thought in the previous picture set
Yeah I've been questioning, cause the banding on her wings really looks similar to most of the other chicks, just a lot lighter. Her head and comb are different, but easter eggers are a cross breed, so not sure if she's just a different genetic traits out of the cross, or recessive genes, or just a completely different breed. lol. Meyer also offers bantam EEs, so might just be a different cross variation to get the bantam? I know in the notes when I made the order I wrote that I didn't care about the breed of the meal maker, so long as it was a "layer" comparable to EEs.

I'll look up opal legbar though just in case! ❤️ From the little I was able to check out this morning, I think this could be a good contender. Especially the lavender coloring and the banding and the head and the crop... all that seems to really match what she seems to be growing in this early.

What color was it banded from Meyer?
