Guess Chicks Gender and Breed (Just For Fun)

What color was it banded from Meyer?
OHHHHH I get your question! By "banding on the wings" I just meant the lines that are coming in on the first feathers. I know they will change, but the two yellow ones are the only one with full single color feathers coming in (pale yellow, maybe white), and all the others just have some horizontal stripes.

22 Days Old Update

(Ignore the pants, I was paiting their coop all day. Going to put it together tomorrow)

Chick 1 - Genevieve Hennetta (guses: pullet)
20250623_180808.jpg 20250623_180815.jpg
This one is my sweetest baby. It takes her a minute to notice it's me (and not something scary), but once she does she basically loves to just cuddle into me.

Chick 2 - Veronica Glass (guess: pullet)
20250623_180921.jpg 20250623_180941.jpg
This is my silliest baby. She's usually zipping around and on/off my lap, and the first to explore new things and doesn't seem to be afraid of much. I find her feathers quite interesting though....

Chick 3 - George Rooga (guess: cockriel)
20250623_180550.jpg 20250623_180620.jpg
This one I'm almost certain is a cockriel. He has already attempted a crow, and he def runs around breaking up disputes and will somestimes even come running at me getting puffy if I scare the girls. Either way, the feathers I think this one will be stunning all grown up.

Chick 4 - Rose Everwing (guess: pullet)
20250623_181015.jpg 20250623_181023.jpg
This one is the most chill one. She doesn't really come to me unless she thinks I have something for her, but she's the less likely to freak out when picked up.

chick 5 - Iva Jean (guess: pullet)

20250623_180527.jpg 20250623_180543.jpg
This one is my drama queen (and possible bully). She screams SO loud anytime I pick her up, but she gets jealous of the others getting attention, so I generally just have to trick her onto my lap by cuddling another chick. She's def the biggest (though Rose is a close 2nd), and likes to chest bump the other chicks. It doesn't seem to be the biggest issue yet, but I keep my eye on her....

Chick 6 - Maud Mabel (guess: pullet)
20250623_180714.jpg 20250623_180722.jpg
Maud is probably my favorite, but it's most likely because she's my most independent queen. She just lives in her own little world, and is content so long as she can find George easy enough. Though she's got a sharp little chirp if she can't find him, and he comes running. It's really cute. She's also more a "watcher" and just likes to sit on my shoulder and watch everyone.

Chick 6 - Beatrice Buttermilk (guess: pullet)
20250623_181042.jpg 20250623_181053.jpg
Beatrice just don't have a thought in her entire sweet little head. LOL. She's only going to do things so long as the others are doing it, but is never the first (or last) one to join in. I can easily grab her though so long as I'm moving her after a few of the others.

Welp I think I might have been wrong 😂 . Iva Jean has been showing a lot of random pops red on the shoulders, and getting a larger/pinker comb than the others. While George Roogan has not... So tbh, I might have them backwards. Figure it will just become "Georgia Chigan" and "Ivan Gene" if I have to switch it lol.

I don't have pictures of all of the chicks, and seem to be missing all of the pictures I got of the shoulders... So I'll take some more this evening. Though I do have a good comparison picture for most of the two combs I'm talking about.

Iva Jean / Ivan Gene

[You can KINDA see the random red here, but it's not as clear... but that isn't dirt, that is actually a red/brown color coming in that is consentrating near the shoulder wings].

38 Days (5 weeks and 3 days)

So I'm pretty sure I had it wrong initially, but I'm also not positive. It's the tail feathers that have me kinda confused... Iva Jean is still the only one with the comb getting pinker and shoulders getting red, making me think that "she" is really my rooster. But, George seems to have more pointed and "rooster" like tail feathers. I'm def FAR from an expert though.

Chick 1 - Genevieve Hennetta (guess: pullet) 20250709_172752.jpg 20250709_172531.jpg
I still think she is a pullet. Her comb has not changed much, it's still very little and the same color as her beak. She has started to get quite a bit lighter as more feathers come in.

Chick 2 - Veronica Glass (guess: pullet)
20250709_172302.jpg 20250709_172411.jpg
Again, still pertty sure she is a pullet. Her comb has changed quite a bit, though it hasn't really gotten any bigger and it's still the same color as her beak. Her feathers are doing some interesting things though, and she's getting a little "poof" on the top of her head. lol.

Chick 3 - George Roogan (guess: cockriel)
20250709_172045.jpg 20250709_172052.jpg 20250709_173425.jpg
Tbh, now I'm not so sure about this one... LOL. For the most part I would say it's actually a pullet though, it's comb is getting a little redder/larger than the others (though not as much as Iva). He is also getting quite a bit lighter, and has a very drastic black/white combo that is unique. Though, the tail feathers are quite different than all the others, so it is making me keep questioning. [Added side by side by one I'm sure is a pullet to compare the tail feathers.]

Chick 4 - Rose Everwing (guess: pullet)
20250709_172015.jpg 20250709_172020.jpg
Again, still pretty sure she is a pullet LOL. Rose hasn't changed much, other than getting quite a bit bigger, and her comb getting SLIGHTLY pink.

Chick 5 - Iva Jean (guess: pullet)
20250709_173001.jpg 20250709_173022.jpg
20250709_173220.jpg
So I'm almost certain at this point that Iva is actually a cockriel LOL. The red has been coming in like crazy on "her" shoulders, and her comb is the reddest/largest out of all of them so far. Plus, Iva's just gotten REALLY big and a little fiesty. Though, Iva's tail feathers are more like the others. [Added comparison picture of Iva behind Geroge but near known pullets to show a comparison].

Chick 6 - Maud Mabel (guess: pullet)
20250709_171653.jpg 20250709_171700.jpg
Maud is my sweet baby, but I just know she's a pullet lol. She's def got some of the most interesting colors coming though! It reminds me of a tabby cat.

Chick 7 - Beatrice Buttermilk (guess: pullet)
20250709_171520.jpg 20250709_171541.jpg
I'm certain Beatrice is still a pullet lol. Though, she is starting to get an interesting starwberry blonde color coming in around her breast area. I'm hoping in the end this will help me tell her apart better from Rose (other than just size).

Honestly, it looks to me like you've got at least 2 maybe 3 cockerels.

I'm thinking 3, 4, and 5 are cockerels.
Well, you are very right about 4 lol. Rose crowed today, so I know she is actually a he 100%. So far the only one to do so, plus the comb just blew up and turned super red over night.

I think Veronica may be an Opal Legbar. I can’t say for certain because some Eggers can look similar as well but she looks more similar than I thought in the previous picture set
You are also right about #2, Veronica, she is def an opal legbar! AHAHA. She got the little poof on the top of her head, and I was certain.

20250727_172643.jpg 20250727_172427.jpg 20250727_172441.jpg 20250727_172337.jpg 20250727_172554.jpg 20250727_172710.jpg

#7, Buttermilk, has def been changing the most these last few weeks. Some rusty colored feathers are coming in on her chest, and some interesting dark color comingi n around her eyes. I really am curious how she will turn out when she's fully mature.

Beautiful birds! You indeed have an Opal Legbar and 4 and 5 are cockerels :)

Thank you! I know I'm partial to them ❤️.

I'm certain #4 is a cockerel and #3 is a pullet, and like 50/50 on #5 being a cockerel.

#4, has been crowing up a storm since he learned how the other day, so I can't deny that one any longer. So he's officially been name changed to "a boy named sue rose". LOL.

#3, "George"/"Georgia" has one of the lighter colored and smaller combs now, and other than some pointier tail feathers than the other girls, they have all stayed really straight. Her neck feathers are also rounder than they kinda look, just cause the white/black constrast kinda gives an optial illusion to hide the real edges.

#5, I flip flop on every other glance at him/her 😂 . The red shoulders, the large legs/feet, and a single feathers that ALMOST curls, kinda makes me lean more towards cockerel. Though, the comb litterally stopped growing, and it's just not getting much wider or redder. It's probably more in the midrange of "pink" in comparison to even the other hens. It's also only a single row, where #4 is def starting to get some of the sides coming in. (all the other girls only have 1 row). The last thing is just that the saddle feathers seem to be coming in much more rounded than #4.

Though, told my mom, we will know once #5 starts to crow or lay eggs 😂 And we don't have to really figure it out until they start fighting and/or mating. I've planned on keeping only 1 rooster, but she's kinda partial to all of them, so I told her if fate smiles on us, and they seem to fit well enough we won't mess with it too much. Though, I don't want an aggressive rooster, and I don't want them fighting/mating to stress out the hens.
