Guess I didn't need to worry about the cat

I posted about cats right before we got our ducklings, because I was afraid our cat might kill the ducks. Yeah, that was a stupid thing to worry about. Today while my daughter and I were sitting out with the ducks, one of them just started quacking and squawking, raised its wings and took off toward the patio, with the other four following, acting the same way. I turned to watch them, assuming they were just doing one of their "run around the yard acting crazy for no particular reason" stunts and I saw that they were chasing my cat. He had attempted to come down into the yard and they chased him back onto the patio, under a chair. LOL! Poor kitty!

That is great.

One of my cats is so stupid, she'll just sit there and stare at the chickens/ducks until they either run her off, or peck her directly on the nose.

My dog stares so intently at the brooder, that the bigger chickens will perch on him and peck at his lips. Once he got pecked in the eye!

And then another time the duckling had his entire beak up in his mouth, doodling around in his lips!

The other cat could care less. We keep the little ones away from her until they're bigger because she's a hunter, and we aren't sure how she'll react to fluffy babies...

Anyone ever seen a mama chicken take after a cat or dog? Talk about aversion therapy!! All the poor creature had to do was walk within 10 feet of our girl and her babies and they would receive a major whoopin'!

I worried the same thing because we have several cats, but the ducks do a smack down on them even when they are minding their own business! The first thing my crew does when we let them out of the pen is to go to the porch and eat all the cat food while the cats just sit there and watch and look at each other hoping one of the others will stop them. I almost feel sorry for the poor kitties!

My young male cat Zeus spent a day cowering under a wheel barrow after my khaki hen chased him under there and wouldn't let him out. Hubby finally noticed something was up and heard his pathetic meows and saved him.
