I have posted pictures of these babies before but I keep wondering how old they are.
Can anyone with more knowledge of geese than me take a guess? My guess was 5 weeks.
I know it might be hard to tell from the picture. Thanks!

Thanks. That is what I was thinking. The lady told me 5 or 6 she wasn't sure but I thought older too.

ohhh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not EVEN that old. Maybe 4 weeks tops. They start getting their wing feathers at 4 and they are of good length by 6 weeks and fully out and working by 8 weeks not to mention they are pretty much feathered all over by 8 weeks.

Here is a 3 week old baby-

If they seem to be doing ok I wouldn't worry. At that age they are very hardy. At that age mine were free ranging all day and completely out from under any artificial heat though they came in the laundry room at night to be safe from predators. Especially with several if they get chilly they cuddle.

Thank you so much for the pictures to see the progession. That is what I have been loooking for. I had another post asking for pics but no answer so thanks for the info. Now that I see your pics I see what you mean. They are only in the 4 week category.

Now till about 2 1/2-3 months you'll want to keep an eye on how their wings fold. Notice how they fold now and keep an eye out that it doesn't change. If you see wing feathers sticking out or wing feathers broken or the wing just looking odd you need to catch them and gently extend the wing and let it go...maybe even a couple times and watch to see if that bottom part folds under all the rest or if it's feathers are rubbing against the ones above or even clearing to the outside of them. If it is happening you'll feel that the bottom part of the wing instead of folding snug to the body it will have rotated outward slightly. This is angel wing. If you catch it right away as soon as it starts to rotate you can use medical tape and tape that bottom part into position and leave it for a week, when you undo it, usually the wing is good as new. If you do nothing -that keeps rotating, it ruins the look of the geese, impairs their ability to use that wing and may cause them arthritis like pain for them...theres really no reason not to fix it as it is so easy.

You probably won't have a problem but I wanted to give you a heads up just in case.
