So close, I'll give it to you!

The breed goes by either:

Coq de Peche du Limousin which roughly translates to the rooster of fishing of the Limousin region (as its feathers are used for fly-tieing), or

La Poule Limousine which translates to the Limousine Hen (or just La Limousine).

Here is a link en française if you are intersted in reading more: http://www.pechetruite.com/Mouches/coq.htm ou http://www.poules-racesdefrance.fr/la-limousine.html et la google translator: http://translate.google.com/#auto/en/

Would you consider him a Wheaton or a BBR Rooster? Wicked spurs. Big comb. Cant see his tail though, seems like the tail carriage is really low so I'm not thinking Game.

Just cuz I have to guess something I'll start off with Marans.

I thinks what is throwing me off is that you can't see this guy's tail. Are you being tricky and this is a bird that's normally dubbed so he looks different?

Just to keep things going I'll guess American Game (not dubbed).

Oh and it's not American Game.

Hmmm, I still think he looks gamey but un-dubbed, but that hen really is heavy bodied for that, more like a dual purpose. I'll try one more: OEG. You'll have to give a hint if not and tell me if this is a breed that is normally dubbed or not (am I on the right or wrong path)?
