Guess The Breed!!! Dog Edition!!!!

Thanks. I read an article on them when I was a kid. Poor things were kept as a source of food. They never got meat because it was too scarce for the people, much less for animals. They were slow, dim-witted beasts, pretty pathetic on all accounts.

Yeah, one theory out there is that a high protein diet contributes to intelligence and problem solving in evolution. Poor little poi dogs seem to agree with that at least. XD I liked one description that said something like, "and the dim-witted beasts were to slow too even snatch the globules of fruit as they were thrown at them".. Honolulu zoo apparently tried to reconstruct the breed but did not succeed.

Punk-a-doodle, as for the photo, the only ridge-backed breeds I know about are the Rhodesian, the Thai ridgeback and the Vietnamese Phu quok (not sure if I spelled that right).

Correct spelling - Phu quoc.

You are hot on the track four pawz! The dog pictured is from a group restricted to a very small area and is currently being developed. The name does not include 'ridge-back' in it, but something similar. They are said to be most similar to the Phu Quoc, but with a larger stature, heavier build, and less frequent bark. There was also apparently a Mha Kon Klab that apparently looked Chow like, but I haven't been able to find anything at all on them.
