Oh and the noise they are making is a low cheeping sound, not a quack, apart from 2 which I am sure are girls cos they have a loud quack going on lol

Teresa- There is no such color as "Grey Trout". Grey, in the Mallard-derived breeds, is the wild Mallard color. What you are seeing is Blue, the result of the Blue dilution gene (plus wild-type of course). None of your birds are Trout. Trout is light phase Mallard and looks completely different. The bird you have pictured is a probable Blue Fawn. The picture you posted from the front looks even more apparent as Blue Fawn. I raise several breeds in that color, including Runners. They often have a little less Blue than yours on the back, but yours is still definitely within the range of what is normal for that color. Anyway, I can't post more detail on this board, but can give you more input via PM if you need it.

A little bit info on the Indian Runner Cinnamon color-
Cinnamon is a reddish-fawn plumage is the result of crossing Browns w/ Solid Fawns, giving off-spring that have the gene of dd Blbl. When they are mated together they produce 50% Cinnamons, 25% Browns & Solid Fawns. As Cinnamons get older they tend to loose the reddish hue. To get that nice rich Cinnamon reddish color to last longer select the best breeders that show this characteristic.

I know I am reviving a REALLY old thread here, but I saw this picture and could not resist commenting. I have a pure runner whose feathers look JUST like this guys. Was wondering if this color really is cinnamon and whether or not it may be the color my guy turns out to be. I am struggling to understand the genetics here lol. I don't suppose any of the previous posters are around to answer or provide updated photos of this duck, or if anyone else has had cinnamon runners, or if it exists as a color in pure Runners. Anyway, just thought I would take a chance and post. Here's pics of my drake in his juvenile plumage.
