So my last batch of 12 was a flop...only 1 hatched!! (but Nana felt sorry for the lonely little one and brought 3 more home from Atwoods...lol) I set 12 of my own, (naked neck silkie rooster and varies hens) and then I got 3 dozen from someone in town. All kinds...silkies, RIR, leghorns, ameracuanas, barred rock, and some others....so hopefully I'll get a few more to hatch this time...We set eggs on 5/6 and 5/7....so we'll see what happens. When should I first candle to toss the duds?

i set mine in last night i made a homemade one with plastic tott,heat lamp and a bowel of water i have 3 silkie eggs(my own) and 11 that someone gave to me so idk what they are there all light brown and tan. i think i'm going to see if my gradnpa will let me use his old incubator to see how it works. i'm not thinking alot will hatch just kinda a tester.

I have bad news...all my duck eggs died but im getting some blue/black orphington eggs sent to me and they should be here on Wednesday. I hope they all arive safely This time I bought a little giant still air incubator so I should be more successful.

I'll hatch with you. This is my third time hatching. All of the 41 eggs are from my own chickens.

Set egg yesterday 12:00pm just 24 hours age.

I wanna join in the fun too! I have a little clutchunder a broody that started 5/2 but only 1 looks good so far, & a bigger shipped clutch that I'm slipping in on her tonight. So we are due 5/23 & 5/29! AND I just realized that it's on Mem. Day weekend & we are going out of town!

Man! I can't cancel over a first-time hatch - they'll think I'm nutz! And they'd prolly be right! LOL oh, well....Mother Nature, do your thang girl!!!

Just set 25 Light Sussex egg's and 17 White Bearded Silkie Egg's. Never had a full bator before, hope the egg by the turner motor won't cook lulz!!

I have been told that you have a better hatch if you incubator is full. I saw you white silkie hen and Oh how cute. I have 27 silkies in mine. Good luck to ALL of us.
