I was cleaning out the chicken poop today in the hen house and found my first egg!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know who laid it, it is small and champange color. I am going to research egg color as soon as I post this! THEN when I started looking around, I found another one under a tree!! I'm a grandhenmaw!

It has begun!! All these months of waiting!

I got my first egg today too! The same way! I was cleaning it out and i got to the last next box and woohlah! A little brown golfball-sized egg!

...I'm still waiting.

I put some carved marble nest eggs in my nest boxes yesterday and this morning when I first stuck my head in the coop, my heart skipped a beat....then I remembered they were NEST EGGS!! Duh!!

Congrats all with the first egg today! I can hardly wait for mine! But don't forget to tell what kind of chickens you have and how old they are. Those of us on the waiting end want those kinds of details.

One of my RIR is getting a very, very red comb. The Delightful Dozen will be 4 months old later this month, so I am still anticipating eggs!
