Guess What?

I have a Fayoumi hen that I may breed to a Phoenix rooster in the spring. I like the looks of that rooster. I actually prefer red, but the pattern is really easy on the eyes.

I am hoping the red-silver sex link thing works when you cross bb reds with birchens. I am wanting red pullets with longtail genetics and that pretty pattern that is going on with the Fayoumis. And that straight up tail is nice, too... especially when it is 2 or 3 feet long.

Like I said, I don't know where the earlobes came from. Makes me wonder what chickens have white earlobes. The mother was brown. The roosters on her side were red and black. They had orange hackles. They were game birds. My father in-law had them and then we inherited them. I don't have any of the originals left. Males were fighting all the time. A couple of the latest chicks look like the originals. Kind of chipmunk looking. I think I could get the same coloring if I used a brown Leghorn Rooster and Fayoumi hens. That will have to wait till next year as I don't have any Fayoumi's yet. I was just looking at a picture of a Brown Leghorn. That is what my Roosters looked like. Would they be prone to fight. Really fight to the death? Thats why I got rid of them.

It could be the game in them that was causing some of the fighting, but its just "boys being boys" Yeah, I wasn't trying to be argumentative, just stating my thoughts. The chipmunk look, also refered to as the wild type, comes from the game. Good luck with them, and at least you have a very interesting and beautyful rooster who should throw some variety into your flock! Good Luck!!!

I really like them for bug control around the farm. They are quick and do well free range. I will try to breed more this spring. They are real hardy being a hybred.

I'm way too late to guess (and wouldn't have had a clue anyway

) but he sure is BEEEE-UTIFUL! LOVE the irridescence <sp??> in his tail.

I love the different colored chicks, too! Adorable!
