I have 11 barnyard mutts from a local farm that would only verify they were chickens. I recently discovered that they are most likely silkie mixes to some degree. Here are three, two pullets and a rooster. The red one is laying an egg a day, the black one is showing no signs of eggs yet and the rooster is, well, just kinda ugly, but he's got some maturing to do.

This is my rooster. Sex link silkie cross? He's 20 weeks.

This is my EE/silkie mix? She takes no bull from the roosters. They leave her alone. She's 22 weeks.

This is my red star? She's a such a nice girl! She's 22 weeks.

Mutts are fun. They keep you wondering where they came from. Anyone want to try any guesses?

I agree with your guesses for the breeds. Only the first one is a roo. Watchout for the last one, she'll try to bury you in eggs. I have 4 of them and I can't eat all of the eggs they give me! (It doesn't help that my DH doesn't eat eggs, the whimp)

yea i know it lacks the waddles to go with that huge comb but i still believe its a roo...can you get a shot of the feathers around the neck faned out like 1-4 along your fingers on the 1st and 3rd chickens please?

She's steady, a perfect egg every morning by 9 am. I'd take a dozen of her any day! First one is for sure a roo. He's been mounting all the girls and crowing like he was Tarzan.

I'll give it a try tomorrow for some more pics. He's just an odd looking rooster. I'm not sure if I want any chicks from him this spring.

Boy, that little black hen doesn't look like she takes ANY bull, from ANYBODY. Talk about stink-eye!!!!

I think the roo is a Barred Rock mix. Other 2, i agree. Mutts are fun...we have some young chickens that came from Black Polish (roo) & our other hens--:/Austrlorps, RIR, Silver Laced Wyandottes & Americaunas. They have half a comb & half a "foo-foo" . Crazy looking!
