I have no idea where to post this...but is there any way to tell around about how old a rooster is? I've heard something about spurs but have no idea how to determine it myself. I'm attempting to guess how old my new rooster is. The previous owner said he wasn't sure. Is there any pretty accurate way to do this at home?

I don't have any of his spurs currently. But I can get some if it would be helpful?

That is a fully developed spur which is typical of a 3 to 4 year old rooster. Older roosters show more of their age around the face and wattles.

Thank you! I had a feeling he was a bit older. He seems generally more experienced then then the roosters I've had. I just wasn't sure how much older.

There's no way to tell how old a chicken is once it reaches maturity. Some age much faster than others. Yours it at least a year and a half judging by the spur growth but could be much older.

I do feel he is on the older side, just by the way he carries himself. He seems to be anyway. I guess regardless, I am just glad he is a calm and well mannered little guy
