Both are petstore rescues. They have not laid and do not appear interested in doing so.

Did I adopt older hens or are they just too young? I can't tell at a glance as I have no experience.

Dipp has more white around her face and Dots' face is well....covered in dots.

They do not look too old. I'd say a 1 to 2 years, at a guess. The best way to tell is the legs. Smoother legs mean younger, and these look pretty smooth.

I believe they are mottled old English game bantams, and that breed lays few eggs. And also consider the season, which is down time for many hens. In spring it's possible that they will start up again.

Overall the legs on both are pretty smooth yes. They the occasional dirt stuck under the scales but other than that just fine. They have two tiny little bumpums where the spurs grow.

Do they squat? Do their vents looks like they’re laying age. They seem to look that way. If @JedJackson says something than it’s probably right. :)

Considering I had to look up what squatting looked like I'd say no. 😂 Never seen them squat. Just bathe and lay in the sun. Haha Also I'm going to he honest I don't know what a chicken vent is suppose to look like normally. I looked only once and all that movement scared the heck out of me. 😂😂

The vent size will be different with bantams but it’s about 3 or 4 fingers that you put at their vent for them to be laying. It’s because if your chicken is laying their vent bones will obviously get wider to push the eggs out. :)
