Guests :(

I was just viewing the "guests" place on this forum. There are like...four pages of guests! Why don't they join? Why just be a guest?

I was just pointing it out...no answers needed but feel free to talk about it.

I know some people that also choose not to sign up for things because they don’t like to have to give any personal information. They will browse around until they feel it’s secure enough to join, or rather worth it to join up.

I think I browsed maybe a few minutes worth and was like I’m joining this group that seems super knowledgeable and now I have been a member for 3yrs. For some, they just need a quick resolution and move on. Others, that end up joining the BYC, enjoy the feeling of community At least, that’s my take.

I know I lurked for about 8 mos. before I joined. First of all couldn't believe all the information and assistance was free. Then I had practically no computer smarts. The first 2-3 years I mainly read posts, and seldom posted any of my own.

Then I started getting bold and finding threads that really drew me out. After that I was on a roll.

I tried to join for two years but my phone somehow wouldn't jive with Byc and was repeatedly denied access so I just read. Finally got a new phone and managed to join up.

Speaking for myself, having visited this website since 2015 and only joining a few days ago - it didn't even occur to me!

I'd search the internet for something chicken-related and invariably, at least one of the top five results was here on BackyardChickens.com. I'd read up on whatever, bookmark and/or close the page and move on. I didn't ever think of joining, I had no reason to!

I lurked for about a day, but ya'll seemed fun so I joined...I live here now.
