Tis little guy hatched yesterday and one of his legs is a mess. It is almost like the leg is dead. It lays stright back with no bend in the knee of any kind. It looks like it is broken because it is turned the wrong way and the tose are all curled up. Anyone know if this can be fixed? The little guy cannot hardly get around at all. I am not sure what to do for him.

I have just had to kill a chick which I nursed for two days to see if I could fix's its legs I think it had Spraddle leg. I tried lots to help but came to the distion to do the best for the little thing.

You have to think for the animal ie - is it being/ going to get pick on by the other birds - more than likely & this will be made worse by the fact it will proberly collapse everytime this happens. It will more likely get infections etc from existing leg and or from the injuries it gets from the other birds.

I cried today when I killed my little chcik but it had to be done as there was no hope for it in the long run

Check out link under how to fix's broken chicken legs or spraddle foot although I don't think it is that but they have some good tips on what to use for wrapping feather friends with non sticky type things - like pipe cleaners

If you don't think you can help it by fixing then killing it is for the best

    Good luck and sorry
