Our mixed color guinea are now about 5 months old. They free range during the day and come back to shelter at night. I have read post of the Dec egg but our 4 or 5 females are laying a few eggs daily. We want to hatch eggs in the spring but of course now it is way to cold to even try. The problem is that the eggs are everywhere. Different areas of the shelter and all over the yard. I am sure there are more in all the other areas they roam. Does anyone know a way to keep them laying in one place? They do have a nice nesting box in their shelter, they like to sleep in it.:idunno
Thank you for any help.

It is common for first time layers to drop their eggs anywhere they happen to be at the time they feel the urge to lay.

What you consider a nice nesting box is not necessarily what the guineas consider an appealing nesting place. Guineas once they get serious about laying prefer a nesting area that is hidden. Some people are successful in getting them to lay in a coop by building a hidden nest site using hay or straw bales to form a "cave" where they can go to "hide".

Guineas do not like their nests being messed with. Seed the desired nesting site with fake eggs and do not let the guineas see you taking eggs from the nest.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for this information. We will give there ideas a try!
The one other thing that people do to keep their guineas laying in the coop is to keep them shut in the coop until they are done laying for the day. If your guineas lay eggs in the morning this works fine but if they lay in the late afternoon like mine then it is not such a good idea.
