Bring the remainder in, candle them and then put the good ones in the incubator.Approx 16 eggs have hatched and mom has the babies over eating and drinking. Should I bring the 15 left and put in the incubator or assume they are not any good?
I normally let them newly hatched keets dry off before removing them from the incubator. In my case it is usually 24 hours after they hatch but I have left them in for nearly 48 hours on occasion. How long do you keep them in the incubator after they hatch?
Yes, that is pretty normal. I have watched the early hatchers help later ones when they are zipping the shell. One has hatched, do they normally flop all over? It was painful to watch it trying to stand and hold up it ‘s head, so very fragile. After 2 hours it is sleeping but that is the same for its older siblings that hatched under the chicken a week ago.
Since we have always gotten day old keets all the same age we never saw the older ones help the hatclingsvas these did. Maybe it is because they were all a day or two apart but the younger keets followed what the older ones did, when and how to eat, drink, and sleep. It has been and continues to be an education.
You can try. Just be sure to watch how things are going and decide from that whether or not they need to be separated. I have added newly hatched keets with a week older keets without problem but it is a big brooder with lots of room for all of them to either stick close together or get away from each other as they see fit.I have 7 keets hatched in the incubator, ages 14 days, 12 days, and 10 days. Can I put them with the new keets, about 6 days, hatched by the hen?
